"Waiting On" Wednesday: Landry Park by Bethany Hagen

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My WoW pick this week is:

Landry Park
Title: Landry Park
Author: Bethany Hagen
Publisher: Dial
Publication Date: February 4th 2014
Genre: Young Adult Sci-Fi/Dystopian
ISBN: 9780803739482

Blurb:
Madeline Landry is born into a world of influence and luxury, a world of estates and gardens fueled by nuclear power and maintained by a caste of people called the Rootless. When a Gentry girl is attacked, it is the Rootless who are blamed, even though Madeline knows better.
As she searches for the truth, she can't escape the rumors of revolution and retribution circulating through the ballrooms, and neither can she escape the city's new golden boy, Captain David Dana, who has secrets of his own. Soon, she finds herself forced to choose between her duty and her desires, her ancestral destiny and her conscience, and her choice will shake the very foundations of the world she was born to rule.

I am soo in love with this cover. It is simple, yet powerful. I love how the girl is standing in the A, and the blue coming out under Park. I'm obsessed with how the image looks on the all black backround, and I feel like the book will really stand out on store shelves.
As for the story...well I am a sci-fi super fan, so I'm all in! It sounds like such an exciting premise, and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Plus, I read an early review where the reviewer compared Bethany Hagen's writing style to that of Jessica Spotswood, Diana Peterfreund, and Lauren Oliver. Enough said...this is a debut that I will definitely be watching out for!

What are you waiting on this week?

  3. This cover is stunning! I love it. And it sounds very intriguing. I have recently started to enjoy books that have an historical feel to them. I think this one sounds like a book that I would very much enjoy. At the very least, it is a cover that I could enjoy looking at regularly!
