Formats: Hardcover, eBook
Description:
This electric cross-country thriller follows the game of cat and mouse between a girl on the run from a murder she witnessed—or committed?—and the boy who’s sent to kill her.Nicolette Holland is the girl everyone likes. Up for adventure. Loyal to a fault. And she’s pretty sure she can get away with anything…until a young woman is brutally murdered in the woods near Nicolette’s house. Which is why she has to disappear.
Jack Manx has always been the stand-up guy with the killer last name. But straight A’s and athletic trophies can’t make people forget that his father was a hit man and his brother is doing time for armed assault. Just when Jack is about to graduate from his Las Vegas high school and head east for college, his brother pulls him into the family business with inescapable instructions: find this ruthless Nicolette Holland and get rid of her. Or else Jack and everyone he loves will pay the price.
As Nicolette and Jack race to outsmart each other, tensions—and attractions—run high. Told in alternating voices, this tightly plotted mystery and tense love story challenges our assumptions about right and wrong, guilt and innocence, truth and lies.

***My Interview with Jack Manx***
1.) What was the worst part of growing up with a hit-man for a father?
The worst part? Maybe the fear that I had the potential to be just like him.
2.) Since you like poetry, what are your top three favorite poems?
Top three favorite poems:
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
This Be the Verse by Phillip Larkin
The Tyger by William Blake
3.) What is your favorite genre of music?
Rock, a lot of old stuff, anything from Burning Man last year. How pretentious would it be to say eclectic?
4.) If someone asked you to describe your dream girl, what would you say?
If you followed Nicolette Holland around for a couple of days, preferably when she wasn’t armed, and you described her, that would be my dream girl.
No, in all seriousness, describing your dream girl is a mistake. You get this long, overdone list of adjectives, and no human being can ever fulfill them all. Or you come up with a list that sounds spectacular, except that you overlook the characteristics that actually make you happy.
5.) What is the major differences between how you view yourself as a person and how you feel others see you?
I don’t know how to answer this. Do you mean people who really know me or people who hear my last name and think “Manx = killer thug”? I view myself as a better person than I was a year ago, that’s one thing. But I’m not sure if anyone else does, given what I was thinking about doing a year ago. Given what I did. I sank from “great guy, kind of competitive; too bad about his family” to being arrested for a first degree felony by the great state of Ohio.
6.) Tell us 5 totally random things about you.
- I’m a genius poker player – the reading the guys at the table part.
- I’m a Raider’s fan. A lot of guys from Las Vegas aren’t, but I am.
- I hate button down collars.
- I don’t mind when Nicolette sends me videos of dogs that adopt orphan baby bison and whatnot.
- All forms of edible weed make me sick to my stomach.
